Two schools win the prestigious Dr JJ Irani Award for Excellence in Education

J H Tarapore School and Tarapore School Agrico were awarded the Dr JJ Irani Award for Excellence in Education at the Tata Education Excellence Programme’s (TEEP) annual award function held on August 22, 2018 at the Tata Auditorium, XLRI in Jamshedpur. Of a total of 38 schools that participated in the TEEP programme, the two schools scored over 600 points in the TEEP assessment process, which measures excellence in the education field.

The chief guest for the event was T V Narendran, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Steel. Sunil Bhaskaran, Chairman, TEEP and Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel; and Devi Kar, Executive Director of Modern High School for Girls and the Founder Director of Modern Academy of Continuing Education, Kolkata, also gave away the awards. School authorities and students from over 50 schools, senior government officials and Tata employees attended the event.

Mr. Narendran lauded the initiatives managed under TEEP, while stressing on the need for leveraging technology and developing teachers’ skills. In his welcome address, Mr Bhaskaran congratulated the TEEP team for not only sustaining the programme for 15 years, but also updating and upgrading it regularly to keep it relevant. NK Sharan, Vice President, Tata Business Excellence Group, also shared the performance highlights of TEEP over the years. Ms Kar, in her keynote address, spoke about the need for schools to address the digital and future challenges.

TEEP, a bespoke initiative by the Tata Business Excellence Group launched in 2003, promotes education excellence in schools of Jamshedpur and nearby areas. The TEEP assessment also fosters a culture of quality and excellence in students.
